No Experience Required

No previous experience is required. Before take-off, you will receive a short briefing on how to behave during take-off and landing. Your experienced pilot takes care of the rest.

Weight Limits (30 – 100 kg)

Your body weight including clothing must be between 30 and 100 kg. These limits are relevant for safety. Your height should be between 1.30 m and 2.00 m. If these requirements are not met, participation is not possible.

Fitness & Mobility

You should be in normal physical and mental condition. Take-off requires active body tension and dynamic running steps on sloping terrain.

Children & Teenagers

Participation is possible from 30 kg. Minors need a declaration of consent from a parent or legal guardian.

Seniors

The tried and tested age limit is around 70 years. With good fitness and prior personal consultation, participation may also be possible beyond that.

Wheelchair Users

Please contact us in advance so we can discuss individually whether a flight is possible and under what conditions.

Flying Weather

We only fly in safe flying weather. Paragliding depends on wind and weather. Even sunshine does not always mean good flying conditions for us, and cloudy days can often be excellent for flying. We do not fly in rain, thunderstorms, or strong winds.

Decision on the Day of the Flight

Our team analyses various weather models and special forecasts for wind at different altitudes and air layers every day. Since flying weather forecasts are only reliable at short notice, we decide no earlier than the day before, and usually only on the day of the flight itself, whether the flight can take place. We ask for your understanding that we cannot provide individual weather updates in advance. If conditions look critical, we prefer to stay on the ground.

Your Flight Appointment

If the weather forecast is good, your appointment will take place as scheduled – without any additional confirmation from us. Please arrive on time at the agreed meeting time.

Cancellation & Alternative Date

In the event of a weather-related cancellation, we will inform you by email or phone.

Flight School

We meet at our flight school at the valley station of the Grubigstein cable car. Here we get to know each other, and if you still need anything, you may find it in our shop.

Getting There & Parking

You are responsible for your own arrival. Parking spaces are available in sufficient numbers. Please allow enough time for your journey so that you arrive on time.

Companions

Companions can follow your flight from the ground and wait for you at the landing area. The Grubigstein landing area is only 2 minutes away from the valley station.

Take-off Site

Grubigstein: We take the gondola together towards the take-off site. The actual take-off site is only a few minutes from the mountain station.

Landing Area

The landing area is only a 5-minute walk from our flight school.

Experienced Pilots

Every tandem pilot completes training and must pass numerous exams and tests as well as demonstrate above-average flying skills. At Flugschule Zugspitz Arena GmbH, only selected professional pilots are allowed to fly in order to provide you with maximum safety.

Our Equipment

We only use tested and up-to-date equipment. All equipment is checked regularly and must undergo something like a technical inspection for paragliders. This means you do not need to worry about possible risks.

Clothing

Please always wear long trousers and a windproof jacket.

Shoes

Sturdy, high-ankle shoes with good tread are mandatory. Trainers or sandals are not suitable.

Sunglasses

Sunglasses protect your eyes from the mountain sun and wind – and also look great in photos, even on cloudy days.

Gloves

We recommend gloves in every season, as it feels noticeably cooler in the air than on the ground due to the wind chill.

Your Own Cameras

Smartphones and action cameras are not allowed for insurance reasons. We recommend our photo and video service.

For insurance reasons, personal cameras such as smartphones or action cams are not allowed during the flight.

Photo & Video Service

On request, we professionally capture your experience. This gives you great memories directly from the air.

Online & On Site

You can conveniently book your tandem flight online via our booking system or directly on site at our flight school.

Book in Advance

During the high season from June to September, we are heavily booked – so it is best to secure your flight early.

Holiday Guests

If you are spending your holiday in the Zugspitz Arena, we recommend booking your flight for one of the first days of your stay. This leaves enough time for an alternative date in case of bad weather.

Couples and Groups

Due to our limited take-off slots in high alpine terrain, simultaneous take-offs are not possible. Flights together one after another are possible. In good conditions, it may be possible to be in the air at the same time.

Payment

Payment methods on site: cash, debit card, and credit card. Flight tickets must be brought to the agreed appointment. Vouchers from third-party providers such as Jochen Schweizer or mydays are not accepted.

Cable car costs and shuttle services are not included in the flight price.

Cable Car Ride

Cable car costs and shuttle services are not included in the flight price. A ticket for the Grubigstein cable car can be purchased for 2 or 4 hours or for 1 day. If you have purchased a Summer Z-Ticket, one ride per day on the Grubigsteinbahn and Almkopfbahn is included, as well as one ride per ticket on the Zugspitzbahn.

Cancellation by Flugschule Zugspitz Arena

If we need to cancel your appointment, no fees will be charged. You can easily arrange a new date.

Cancellation by the Guest

More than 3 days before the planned flight period: free of charge. Within the agreed flight period: 50% cancellation fee. After a fixed date and time have been agreed: 100% cancellation fee. In the event of late arrival or failure to keep agreed appointments, the cancellation fee is 100%. For cancellations by groups of 4 or more persons within 7 days before the appointment, 100% will also be charged.
